Aims, contents and method of the course

Learning about data documenting the origin of gender inequities
Theoretical perspectives on gender and diversity in physics classrooms
Gathering practical knowledge in identifying “doing difference” (observational fieldstudies )
Discussing possibilities for teaching for equality in physics lessons

Assessment and permitted materials

Course with immanent character, writing a paper based on the observations made and the literature discussed

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Awareness of the origin of gender inequities in physics education and the personal involvement in the problem
Studying data an theoretical perspectives on inequity in physics lessons
Planning, conducting and discussing an observation in a science class room

Examination topics

interactive class based on reading, viewing, discussing, doing scientific work (field study)
