Aims, contents and method of the course

The interdisciplinary course (for physics teacher students an students of social and cultural anthropology) is concerned with the qualitative evaluation of a gamebased learning design in the R&D project BLUKONE.
The goal of the project BLUKONE is the development of a taylormade learning design for sustainable energy management for students of higher technical vocational colleges. It focuses on the entanglement of technological knowledge and social and personal competences.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria


Acquirement of basic knowledge of sustainability, teaching for sustainable development and sustainable energy management
Acquirement of knowledge of socio-scientific qualitative evaluation of educational designs (group discussion, interview,observation)
Discussion of pro and cons of gamebased learning desins in physics education
Becoming acquainted with the culture of technical vocational colleges
Enhancement of interdisciplinary discourse and collaboration
Gaining insight in an ongoing research project

Examination topics

lectures, discussion of respective literature, observation of students who are testing the materials based on research literature
the empirical studies take place at the HTL Donaustatdt and Hollabrunnvaluation of the observations
