The seminar "Research at the Faculty of Physics" takes place in blocks and alternating with the "Bachelor Seminar" on Thursdays from 10:45 - 12:30 in the Ludwig-Boltzmann Lecture Hall on the following dates.
Due to the current situation, this course will be changed to an online course until further notice. Webinars will be held on the above mentioned dates via the Moodle course page. More detailed information will be communicated via Moodle.

Aims, contents and method of the course

Students will get an overview of the research groups at the Faculty of Physics as well as an insight into their main research and research methods. The contents also include equality and equal opportunities in research and teaching as well as an outlook on the possible professional fields of physicists.
Students work on these topics in small groups (3-4 people) on online homework assignments and present their results as short reports in Moodle to other course participants.

Assessment and permitted materials

The evaluation of the seminar is based on 2 partial performances, which contribute to the total score as follows:
1. Attendance at at least 4 webinar or seminar dates (50% )
2. Processing of the online tasks and submission of short reports (50%)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

With the partial performances at least 50% of the total points (= sum of the maximum number of points of the partial performances) must be achieved in order to complete the seminar positively.
The grading scale for the evaluation is:
Grade 1: 100.00% - 87.00%
Grade 2: 86.99% - 75.00%
Grade 3: 74.99% - 63.00%
Grade 4: 62.99% - 50.00%
Grade 5: 49.99% - 0.00%
