Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Binding and structure of metals, band model and conductivity, experimental methods, structure of alloys, phase equilibria and phase diagram, lattice defects and diffusion, phase transfromations.

Assessment and permitted materials

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Acquirement of fundamental knowledge on metals and alloys: binding and structure, electronic properties, experimental approaches, lattice defects, phase transformations. In this way, a sound basis for a big part of solid state physics and materials physics is laid.

Examination topics

Oral lecture (blackboard) with additional electronic media (transparencies and ppt presentation) and possibility for interaction with the students (lecture notes).
