Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Discussion of current research in the field of atomic ordering, short-range ordering and ordering kinetics including low-dimensional systems (thin films, nanowires, nanoclusters).

Assessment and permitted materials

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Discussion of recent publications and current research activities in the field of alloy physics, especially in the area of atomic (chemical) ordering (short- and long-range order). A limited part of the field is studied and prepared more or less independently by the student and thereby allows a deep penetration into of the problems of this research area. Preparation and presentation of a short scientific talk gives experience in arranging and presenting the accumulated material. Taking part in the presentations of the other participants extends and broadens the knowledge in theoretical and experimental respect.

Examination topics

Introduction into some important publications and connection to the current view, discussion of the current view, discussion of the results of the literature study, preparation of a written and oral presentation, presentation of the work in a seminar lecture, participation in other lectures and in the discussion.
