Aims, contents and method of the course

Problems and exercises supplementing the lecture Introduction to Physics III, WS 2016

Assessment and permitted materials

You prepare the solutions for as many exercises as you can and tick-mark them on a list during the exercise. The number of crosses you make, determines the grade
50% of all exercises have to be tick-marked, to get a positive grade (4 or better). The tutor will occasionally check that you have worked out solutions on paper for
those exercises that you confirm to have solved.

The grading scale is linear (More crosses → better grade)
This part influences your final grade by 2/3.

1/3 of your grade is given for your (usually two) black board presentations as well as your active participation.

Your presence in the exercise classes is expected and obligatory. You are allowed to skip 2 sessions without reason. All else will lead to a negative grade (fail)
unless there is a credible and reasonable excuse.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

By means of exercises, students shall become acquainted with concepts and methods taught in the E3 lecture. At the same time, they shall be trained to present a problem and its solution in a clear manner.

Examination topics

The exercises will be announced on Moodle every Monday at least 7 days preceding the corresponding exercise class. All examples are to be prepared by all students.
The instructor calls every student to the black board, at least once during the semester, to present a given problem and its solution.

Assessment and permitted materials

Oral through blackboard presentations and discussion contributions.

All students prepare all examples. During the course any students can be called by the teacher to present at a problem and its solutions. Everyone will be selected at least twice during the semester.

In 7 exercices a complex problem will be posed to be solved by all students.
They will upload their own results to Moodle for grading.

The entire course is graded as "passed" when both the mean of all oral contributions and the mean of all 7 written problems is graded as "passed".

The final mark is an average of the oral presentations and discussions (1/3) as well as the written contributions (2/3) .

Participation in all exercises is obligatory. Absence for more than two sessions requires a verifiable justification.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

By means of exercises, students shall become acquainted with concepts and methods taught in the concomitant lecture course. At the same time, they shall be trained to present a problem and its solution in a clear, logical and understandable manner.

The exercises will be announced on Moodle every Monday at least 7 days preceding the corresponding exercise class. All examples are to be prepared by all students.
The instructor calls every student to the black board, at least twice during the semester, to present a given problem and its solution.
Seven excercises will be accompanied by a written problem. They will be solved by every student and uploaded on moodle for grading.

Aims, contents and method of the course

Problems and Exercises supplementing the lecture Introduction to Physics III, WS 2015

Assessment and permitted materials

You prepare the solutions for as many exercises as you can and tick-mark them on a list during the exercise. The number of crosses you make, determines the grade 50% of all exercises have to be tick-marked, to get a positive grade (4 or better). The tutor will occasionally check that you have worked out solutions on paper for those exercises that you confirm to have solved.
The grading scale is linear (More crosses -> better grade). This part influences your final grade by 2/3. 1/3 of your grade is given for your (usually two) black board presentations as well as your active participation.
Your presence in the exercise classes is expected and obligatory. You are allowed to skip 2 sessions without reason. All else will lead to a negative grade (fail) unless there is a credible and reasonable excuse.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

By means of exercises, students shall become acquainted with concepts and methods taught in the concomitant lecture course. At the same time, they shall be trained to present a problem and its solution in a clear, logical and understandable manner.
