Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Mathematica is not only a powerful computer algebra system, but also a high-level programming language. In the lecture we will discuss two programming paradigms which are especially suited for an efficient usage:functional and symbolic programming. The application of these concepts for physical and mathematical problems will be illustrated.
Assessment and permitted materials
Written examination
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The students should understand the basic approaches for an efficient use of Mathematica.
Examination topics
The structure of Mathematica and the resulting programming paradigms (functional and rule-based programming) will be discussed in the lecture. In the practical sessions the students will have to apply these methods to solve selected examples.
