Aims, contents and method of the course
The lecture gives an introduction into the hardware of modern personal computers and into the function of its various components. Special emphasis is put on the practical application of a PC for scientific tasks, e.g.,computer-controlled measurement systems and the interfacing of external devices.

Oral exam
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The participants of the course should understand the configuration of personal computers, and know how to connect expansion modules and measuring devices. This knowledge will allow them to design and build up computerized measuring systems for the use in research tasks.
Examination topics
Lecture with computer-based visualization support. Handouts will be distributed via the eLearning system.
