Aims, contents and method of the course

Brief review of the thermodynamics of phase transitions ; ensembles, fluctuations, classification of phase transitions, critical exponents, thermodynamics of classical fluids, Ornstein-Zernicke theory, thermodynamic limit and Yang-Lee theorems, generalized lattice spin models, Ising model and lattice gas, transfer matrix, mean field theory, Landau theory.
Elementary knowledge of statistical mechanics and some quantum field theory may be useful.
