Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

A practical survey on Materials Physics and its most important methods.

Assessment and permitted materials

By means of available literature, the experiments are to be prepared by the students in home work and reported/discussed with the supervisor before the experiment has been started. The experiment is then carried out by the students with help and advices by the supervisor. A careful record of experimental data is a necessary condition for the preparation of the final protocol. At the end of the lab course, students are interviewed by the lab course professors to see the educational success. The final mark results from the quality of discussions, the accuracy and completeness of protocols, and the knowledge of students shown in the final interview.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Correct handling of modern research facilities, good physical understanding, suitable documentation of experiments, and the specific preparation for a bachelor-, master-, diploma work , and/or a doctoral thesis on materials physics.
