Aims, contents and method of the course
Carbon is one of the most colorful atoms in the periodic system. In the lecture structure and properties will be reported for the various carbon nanophases such as nanodiamond, fullerenes, carbon nanotubes, or graphene. Amongst others quantized transport (Landauer-Büttiker formalism), massless Dirac particles, spin chains, quantized molecular rotors, Tomonage-Luttinger behaviour for electrons and many potential applications will be discussed. The corresponding physical background will be elucidated.
