Aims, contents and method of the course
The Practical Class includes three different subjects of Modern Microscopy: Optical Microscopy, Digital Image Processing, Scanning Tunnel Microscopy and Transmission Electron Microscopy. The different methods are used to analyse the microstructure of various specimens down to the atomic level.
Assessment and permitted materials
Continuous assessment of the course work and talk.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The aim is to learn the physics background and to get personal experience when using modern microscopical methods.
Examination topics
Practical training of the state-of the-art methods of microscopy at various instruments; evaluation using digital image processing.
