Aims, contents and method of the course

Responsible work in small groups for the preparation for the demands of an experimental diploma thesis. Topics from metal physics and low temperature experimentation, especially with liquid nitrogen and liquid helium.

Assessment and permitted materials

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Obtain knowledge and insight into principles and methods of experimentation at low temperatures, get expertise in planning experimenal setup, stick to the rules of good scientific practice, being able to report on results in written form and orally, competence in team work.

Examination topics

Planning of experiments with liquid nitrogen and liquid helium. Building up experimental equipment from components, working in groups, evaluation and graphical representation of results, oral and written reports.
