Aims, contents and method of the course

This seminar aims for all participating students to become familiar with the subject area, methods and formal requirements of the bachelor thesis, e.g. historic physical devices and literature as a source of knowledge on physics compared with today. Basically, there is a wide range of topics.

The aims of the seminar are conveyed by the following methods: short presentations of the course lecturer and the students, discussions of historic and modern experiments, photos and videos of the historical physics collection are available, support to work independently.
The bachelor seminar is basically intended as a face-to-face event. Should the ongoing corona crisis require it, the Moodle platform can be used to switch to video conferencing using Zoom Meeting or BigBlueButton.

Assessment and permitted materials

Active participation, short presentations in presence (or via video conference when switching to home learning) and written composition of assigned tasks, respectively. Bachelor thesis.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Basically, attendance is obligatory, also for video conferences (absence may be excused in case of justifiable reasons), two short presentations, 50 % of the possible points are required. Positive bachelor thesis. The following maximum number of points is included in the assessment:
13 points: participation
13 points: first presentation
14 points second presentation
60 points bachelor thesis

The grades are awarded with the following number of points:
1 (very good) 100 - 90 points
2 (good) 89-76 points
3 (satisfactory) 75 - 63 points
4 (sufficient) 62 - 50 points
5 (insufficient) 49 - 0 points
