Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This seminar will train pre-service teachers in the use of Open Source Tutorials (OSTs), a set of worksheets based upon physics education research. Unlike Tutorials in Introductory Physics from which they derive, OSTs have an explicit emphasis on student attitudes about the nature of physics knowledge and learning.
Assessment and permitted materials
Students will be assessed based upon classroom participation, weekly homework assignments, facilitation of OST's for their classmates (mock lesson), and reflections written on the teaching. In particular, several homework assignments will be dedicated to preparing students to create their own OST's, teach them at a Gymnasium, and reflect upon the experience.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Students are expected to attend and participate actively in class, to complete homework assignments thoroughly and on time, and to be prepared when it is their turn to facilitate Tutorial.
