Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This seminar will support pre-service teachers in the use of education research-based curriculum on the topic of quantum physics. We will focus primarily on the MILQ approach, but will contrast it briefly with other approaches as well, such as Georgetown University's MOOC "Quantum Mechanics for Everyone", which was a finalist for the 2018 edX award.
Assessment and permitted materials
Students will be assessed based upon classroom participation, weekly homework assignments, facilitation of a lesson created from MILQ materials for their classmates (mock lesson) and, if possible, with school children, and reflections written on the teaching.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Students are expected to attend and participate actively in class, to complete homework assignments thoroughly and on time, and to be prepared when it is their turn to facilitate the mock lesson.
