Aims, contents and method of the course

Lectures in nutritional biochemistry with a substantial background in chemistry and biochemistry. Emphasis on biochemical and physiological fundamentals of nutrition. Discussion of protein, fats, carbohydrate and energy and their roles and interrelationships in nutrition and metabolism.
Method: The contents of the courses are developed through lectures.

Performance assessment: single-choice exam, 60 min

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Detailed knowledge of the biochemical reaction types of the basic metabolism
Knowledge of the essential metabolic reactions of carbohydrates, fats and proteins
Metabolic pathways for energy production
