Aims, contents and method of the course

Goals:
• Learning & practicing of scientific writing & literature reserach, by writing a bachelor thesis.

Contents:
• General introduction: Combined presentation for everyone who plans to write a bachelor thesis during this semester. Guidelines and generally helpful tipps are discussed, and formal procedures are explained.
• Writing of a bachelor thesis under the guidance of the individual supervisor, based on the results of “Wahlfachpraktikum”.

Assessment and permitted materials

• Participation in the obligatory seminar (one of two seminars, see above).
• Assessment of the written bachelor thesis.
• Mandatory submission of the thesis via moodle; Note: the thesis will be checked for plagiarism through TurnitIn.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Minimum requirements:
• Submission of the written bachelor thesis
• Unsuspicious plagiarism check
• Adhering to formal requirements regarding formatting and volume restrictions

Assessment criteria:
Quality of the written bachelor thesis, regarding e.g. clarity, scientific quality, data presentation, etc.

Examination topics

Writing of the bachelor thesis on a topic that has been agreed upon with the individual supervisor.

Reading list

Powerpoint slides of the general introduction (moodle).
The rest will be discussed individually with the respective supervisor.
