1. Characterization and modification of spider silk
We will employ µ-Raman spectroscopy to characterize the secondary protein structure of various spider silks in pristine and modified state.
A femtosecond solid-state laser will be used to modify the silk by producing laser induced periodic surface structures (LIPSS) along the silk.
2. Laser machining and characterization of ablated areas on silicon
Optical and scanning electron microscopy, together with µ-Raman spectroscopy will be employed to investigate laser ablated sites under various environments.Nagy:

- chemical stratigraphy: thermal barrier coatings for jet engines (TBCs)
- chemical mapping of additivly manufactured alloys with lateral variable chemical composition (Nabla-materials)
- chemicall analysis of oxide-interfaces on molten alloy samples.
