The first lecture (synchronous online lecture over BigBlueButton) will take place on October 1, from 8.30 to 10. A link to BBB will be given in Moodle.

This lecture will most likely take place on Thursdays; time to be defined. If possible it will take place in a lecture hall; if that is not possible the lecture will take place as synchronous online lecture over BigBlueButton. In this way direct interaction will be possible.

Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course gives an introduction to the fundamentals of the interaction of soft matter at interfaces. We will discuss thermodynamics of interfaces, models for molecular adsorption, phase transitions at interfaces, and self-assembly of monolayers. Moreover, you will be introduced to several surface specific experimental techniques, like ellipsometry, signal enhancement with evanescent waves, and linear and nonlinear optical spectroscopy. These methods provide information about the molecular ordering and structural arrangement of soft matter at interfaces.
