Aims, contents and method of the course
In chemical sensors selforganized layers are favourably applied to different types of transducers, e.g. mass-sensitive devices or optical measurement principles. The strategies can range from hydrogen bond formation to gold-thiol interactions forming selfassembled monolayers and to the generation of highly cross-linked polymers. In this way selective inclusion of analytes can be performed in the bulk for small molecules. Even large bioanalytes can be recognized by surface patterning processes.
Assessment and permitted materials
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
In this way the students will learn about molecular recognition and which way spontaneous processes can be used for Analytical Chemistry.
