Aims, contents and method of the course

2 hours (2 credits), lecture
F214: elective field of concentration analytical chemistry
Environment monitoring by sensors in liquid phase and in the atmosphere; detection of solved pollutants by optical, potentiometric and mass sensitive procedures; PAHs, heavy metal contamination and its consequences (the shock of Minamata) and speciation (mercury e.g.); microbial contamination; monitoring of greenhouse gases and pollutants (ozone); atrazine - screening methods and how to avoid systematic errors on identification; uncertainties with toxikological risk assessment; analytical chemistry and molecular epidemiology - polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons; problems with estrogens in environment; methods and intermediate balance of identifikation of compounds with endocrine activity; the issue of setting maximum limits and resulting demands on analytical chemistry - drinking water); analytical aspects of newly discussed environmental issues.

An Hand von in der Umweltanalytik auftauchenden und auch in der Öffentlichkeit diskutierten Problemen zB Schwermetallkontamination und ihre Folgen werden die Problemsituation und mögliche Lösungsmethoden diskutiert.
