Classes
Attendance of PC-1 and PC-2 lab courses in the same semester is guaranteed, as is the Inorganic Chemistry or Organic Chemistry lab course.
The combination of the PC-1, PC-2, and the Physical Chemistry elective lab course corresponds to the scope and workload of the Physical Chemistry lab course from the old Bachelor's program in Chemistry.
October 9, 2025, 6:00-8:00 PM, HS2 - together with the kick-off meeting for PC-2; mandatory participation, counts as the first course unit. Absence will be considered a waiver of the lab course placement.Tutorials on the theoretical example - final dates will be announced:
November 6, 2025, 1:00-3:30 PM, HS2
November 7, 2025, 1:00-3:30 PM, HS2

Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This lab course complements and deepens the content of the PC-1 and PC-2 courses and demonstrates the practical application of physical chemistry principles. Starting with data from dynamic differential scanning calorimetry, a simple phase diagram will be constructed and applied to a material chemistry problem (evaluation example). In seminar lectures, you will present selected topics from the key disciplines of physical chemistry.
Assessment and permitted materials
Attendance is mandatory for all components, including the kick-off meeting. The results and report of the evaluation example (max. 20 points), the seminar presentation (max. 20 points), and participation in the discussion of the presentations (max. 8 points; 2.67 points per question/contribution if relevant to the presentation topic) will be assessed. The computer room is available for data evaluation.
Reports/reports/minutes must be written independently, including text, graphics, analyses, and tables. The presentation must also be prepared independently. In all cases, everything taken from other sources (data, values, graphics, images, content, etc.) must be cited, and any text taken verbatim must be marked as a quotation.
