Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Spectrometric determinations (ICP-AES, GFAAS, hyphenation with FIAS, hydride-generation-ICP-AES) of trace elements in complex matrices, including sample preparation by different methods (lyophilization, wet and dry decomposition, decomposition under pressure, micro-wave dissolution). Optimization of the analytical program according to line selection (ICP) and the temperature program (AAS) respectively, calibration of the system, selection of the measuring method (internal standard, standard addition, back ground correction, and determination of the limits of detection).
Admission requirements: successful conclusion of analytical chemistry
(first section of studies)
Requirements: basic knowledge in spectrometry
Grading (IP): Performance of the practical work, protocol and final discussion.

Assessment and permitted materials

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

supervised student's practice in sample preparation for atomic spectrometric methods and subsequent qualitative and quantitative instrumental element determination.
