Aims, contents and method of the course
News on chemistry in the mass media (newspapers, TV, etc.) - Use of different media in chemical instruction (text books, videos, CDs, DVDs, world-wide web) - recent topics and problems in chemical didactics - reading of journals on chemical didactics - questions on basic concepts of chemistry and chemistry teaching
Assessment and permitted materials
Beurteilung (IP): Anwesenheitspflicht; Aktive Teilnahme an den Diskussionen des Seminars, Präsentationen mit Handout.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
1) Recognize, develop and support own abilities and competences in chemical instruction
2) Defining criteria for good chemical instruction
3) Building a positive and self-confident image and style of teaching
4) Ability to encourage and support students
5) Ability to adopt chemical instruction to the individual needs of the students (age, interests, abilities, type of school, etc.)
