Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Introduction into the fundamentals of the interaction between short laser pulses and condensed matter. Transfer of theory and models to laser nano- and micromaching processes, and surface analytical applications. Special focus will be placed on the laser-generation of defects. Recent research findings of their role in the optical and thermal behaviour of work pieces, in laser-induced plasma spectroscopy and in depth profiling of coating systems will be demonstrated and discussed.
Assessment and permitted materials
Interactive lecture, oral presentations, oral exam
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Bachelor level (Chemistry, Physics, Earth Sciences, Geography and Astronomy)
