Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The lecture gives an overview about the method of powder X-ray diffraction and the qualitative and quantitative evaluation of diffractograms using the method of Rietveld refinement. Content: physical principles of X-ray diffraction - X-ray diffraction on crystalline powders – construction principles of diffractometers – information content of a diffractogram – quantitative analysis using the Rietveld method.
Students understand the basic principles of analyzing crystalline solids by X-ray diffraction methods. They learn construction principles of instruments and the methods of qualitative and quantitative phase analysis.

Oral examination

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Physical background, construction principles of powder diffractometers, qualitative and quantitative phase analysis. Evaluation based on oral examination.
