Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course will introduce you to the basic concept of lipidomics and will contain lectures but also a lot of practical lipidomics work ranging from sample extraction over the analysis of different lipid classes to their identification and visualization within a given lipidome. More explicitly you will learn about the do and don’ts of lipid sample extraction, familiarize you to the concepts of bottom-up and top-down shotgun lipidomics, analyze your own samples with direct infusion experiments, analyze your data with the latest software and compare your results across different experiments.

Assessment and permitted materials

We will judge your course work and commitment and questionnaire your work in oral examination.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Basic knowledge in data interpretation and statistics, concepts of mass spectrometry (lecture on mass spectrometry)

Examination topics

practical exertion of experiments and teaching material
