Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course will deal with analytical and separation methodological aspects in the context of qualitative and quantitative analysis of pharmaceutical, biomedical, and toxicologically relevant compounds such as drugs, endogenous and exogenous metabolites, pesticides, and so forth. Actual problems arising in research projects will be attempted to be solved by making use of modern instrumental techniques such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), nano-HPLC, capillary electrophoresis (CE) and capillary electrochromatography (CEC).

Assessment and permitted materials

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The students will get an introduction on theoretical and practical aspects of modern separation methodologies by trying to solve actual reaserch problems. Thereby, the students will learn how to use analysis instruments and get hand-on experience. It is also the goal that students learn how to perform and conduct experimental analytical studies in a scientific way and how to solve analytical and/or separation problems. The course will be complemented by the preparation of a detailed protocol and a final discussion.

Examination topics

Evaluation: protocol and oral examination
