Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The content of this lecture course is rare metalloproteins of microbes from Archaea Kingdom of Life. Usually, they are rare metalloenzymes of extremophilic microbes, which inhabit inhospitable conditions of Earth (hot acid springs, hydrothermal vents, hypersaline environments, etc.). The lectures are focused on unusual structural and spectroscopic properties of these rare metalloenzymes, their functional features and biochemical characterization.

1) Naturallyoccurringtungsten proteins (tungstoenzymes)
2) Blue Copper proteins:Halocyanins from Halophiles, Sulfocyanins
3) Nickel proteins fromMethanogens
4) Enzymes of Sulfur cycle in Archaea
5) Iron oxidation/Sulfur metabolism machinery: SOR,TETH enzymes
6) Fe-S clusters inArchaea
7) Extreme microbes extreme proteins: special structural features
