This course is divided into two parts:
Part 1 - Multiomics Data Science with Python (max. 12 students):
The lecture starts on Thursday, March 2nd, and is split each week into two parts. Every Thursday (10:15-12:15 SR4) you will have a theory part, whereas on Wednesdays (12:15-13:45 SR4) students will locally program and implement the training exercises. A requirement for this course is to bring your own notebook/laptop.
Part 2 - Multiomics Data Science with common software programs:
This part will take place during the last two weeks of June and is split into two groups, each with 6 student, with two sessions in theory for all 12 students on the 19th and the 21st of June from 10:00 to 12:00 in HS2 and SR1, respectively. Students have to attend at least 90 % of the course.

Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Assessment and permitted materials
In the practical part of the course, the students will get exercises which they have to implement on their own during the session. These implementations will be assessed by the course instructor afterwards. The instructor will additionally ask questions according to the implementation. Plagiarism, deception or transcription of co-students is not tolerated and will be scored with 0 points. To successfully pass this course, the students have to gather at least 50% of all points of the practical excercises.
Part 2 - Multiomics Data Science with common software programs
Performance is monitored during the practical course (interest, cooperation), and is furthermore determined on the basis of the quality of the delivered protocol and the acquired knowledge (determined in the closing meeting).
Basic topics of data analysis of multiomics data will be introduced. These topics are regression, principal component analsyses, clustering time series analyses, classification, and statistical tests among others. The course will be started with an introduction in Python for the application of the mentioned analysis methods.
Part 2 - Multiomics Data Science with common software programs
Large data-sets from high-throughput analysis methods cannot be interpreted manually but need to be processed automatically using accurate and reliable algorithms performed by appropriate software-packages. Here some commonly used software-packages applied for proteomics, transcriptomics and lipidomics will be presented in detail. Furthermore, algorithms supporting data interpretation will be presented.
