Function of biochemical processes in living organisms, cell structure, structure of proteins , enzymes, biological membranes and their components, nucleic acids (gene technology). Energy metabolism: role of ATP, anaerobic and aerobic glycolysis, fat degradation, citric acid cycle, respiratory chain and oxidative phosphorylation. Choroplast structure and photosynthesis, production of NADPH as universal rerductant for biosynthetic processes. Basic principles of anabolic pathways: gluconeogenesis, fatty acid and lipid biosynthesis, metabolism of nitrogen compounds. Storage, transfer and expression of genetic information: DNA replication, transcription, protein biosynthesis. Protein degradation. Levels of metabolic regulation: transcription etc., enzyme activity. Signal transduction. Immuno-chemistry.
