(A) Liquid phase: Introduction, thermodynamics, PVT-behaviour, theorem of corresponding states, quantum effects; molecular distribution and correlation functions; spectroscopic methods for determination of structure; effective pairwise potental energy functions; models for the structure of liquids; transport properties; selected properties of some important liquids. (B) Solid phase: Introduction, symmetry in solids, introduction into the crystallographic description of solid matter, structure of matter, production of X-ray radiation, theory of diffraction, experimental techniques for determination of structure via X-ray and neutron diffraction, structural-chemical description of solids, radiation safety.
