270234 VO+UE Computer applications in solid state chemistry (2007S)

The subjects treated a relevant for theoretical calculations on solids and surfaces. In an introductory fashion the essential tools for everyday work are treated. We start with an introduction into UNIX (commands, file structure, shell scripts). Texts are written with a common editor and then converted into TeX and LaTeX code which are discussed in greater detail. Also the preparation of graphic files and their inclusion into LaTeX documents is demonstrated. In this way every participant prepares a protocoll which will be converted into HTML and will be published in the internet.
