Aims, contents and method of the course

This course deals with the computer techniques necessary and useful in theoretical calculations on solids and surfaces.
The programme includes an introduction into UNIX (commands, file structure, shell scripts), the use of text editors, the production of camera-ready texts by means of the program package LaTeX as well as the creation of graphics and their integration into the text. On this basis a work protocol is written. Also treated are the conversion of LaTeX into HTML and the generation of scientific presentations.
