Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The identification of a large number of molecules by a single experiment offers fantastic chances, but also requires novel strategies for data evaluation and interpretation. Classical statistical tools may not be sufficient for appropriate conclusions. To get insight into the currently applied methodologies, the basics of mass spectrometric data aquisition, documentation and interpretation will be studied. The results are actually the working materials for the actually relevant functional conclusions. The latest methods of artificial intelligence including Bayesian networks and causal networks will be applied to reach these aims.
Assessment and permitted materials
This lecture includes practical training parts, your cooperation will determine 50% of your evaluation. The other 50% will be determined via a written exam.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
A profound understanding of mass spectrometry-based analytical methods is expected and desirable.
Examination topics
Obviously only contents discussed and trained in detail during this course will be subject for examination.
Reading list
Supperting literature will consist of textbooks, free tutorials and training videos, especially regarding MaxQuant/Perseus, Skyline and Bayesian networks.
