Dear Participants,

The lecture "receptor-ligand interactions" will be held digitally via Moodle during the fall term 2020.

We will meet for the first time on Thu. 8th Oct 2020 at 11.15am to discuss the digital format as well as the dates of the following appointments.


Aims, contents and method of the course

This lecture covers the basics of ligand receptor interactions that relates chemical interactions to biological processes. After introducing bonding and energetics, ligand-respector interactions are discussed in the context of biology by highlighting several types of endocrine ligands, their receptors, signal transduction and intracellular transport. Finally, the crucial role of ligand-receptor interactions for drug discovery is discussed and the importance of analytical techniques to unravel disease processes is stressed.
