Reliable values of properties of materials are of central importance for chemical engineering/design of industrial processes. This graduate course will provide a critical review of modern estimation techniques for a selected number of physico-chemical properties of gases and liquids (pure substances and mixtures). Today, such methods as relatively inexpensive and fast alternatives to measurements. The focus will be on the following topics:
- critical and other pure substance properties
- PVT properties of pure substances and mixtures
- selected thermodynamic properties
- properties of ideal gases
- vapor pressures and enthalpies of vaporization
- fluid phase equilibria
- transport properties
