Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, this course takes place hybrid with online and in-classroom teaching. The hybrid course will be taught in German and English. Nathalie Tepe, Stephan Kraemer and Naresh Kumar will be teaching online via BigBlueButton exclusively.
Please log into BigBlueButton at 9 am for those respective days.

If the covid-19 situation will not allow in-classroom teaching, we will switch to an online teaching format.

The students are familiar with the basics of groundwater systems, hydrochemistry and know important water pollutants. The students know the most important environmental geochemical reaction types in terrestrial and aquatic systems and have a basic understanding of their thermodynamics and kinetics.
All materials will be uploaded for e-learning in Moodle.

Assessment and permitted materials

A maximum number of 100 points can be awarded to students participating in exams:
The three exams are taking place on the following days:
Hydrochemistry: Online examination on Moodle (Nathalie Tepe): 25 points, October 22, 2021
Hydrogeology: In-classroom examination (Paulo Herrera): 25 points, November 19, 2021
Soil and environmental geochemistry (Naresh Kumar & Stephan Krämer): 50 points, January 28, 2022

There will be no possibility for repetition of examinations.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

A total of 100 points can be reached by successful participation in exams. The points from all three exams are accumulated and the grade is applied to the total number of points reached during the semester. The following grading scheme will be applied:
> 87.5 points: 1
75-87.49 points: 2
62.5-74.99 points: 3
