Beginn am Mi 01. März 2016

Erster Teil wird von J Reitner gehalten. Da er auf der Geologischen Bundesanstalt tätig ist, werden Einheiten zusammen gelegt und auf der GBA gehalten (Besprechung in der ersten Einheit).

Ab Di 04. April beginnt der Abschnitt Paläobiologie. Vorlesungszeiten werden noch am ersten Termin diskutiert.

Weiters wird am Mi 17. Mai 2017 eine Exkursion im Rahmen der erdwissenschaftlichen Exkursionen zu dem Thema angeboten (u.a. Schneeberg, Neusiedlersee).

Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Students are able to recognize and describe geologic remains of glacial periods. They have basic knowledge of global and regional climate stratigraphy of the Quaternary and know about glacial palaeo-ecosystems, their fauna and flora and related environmental factors. Students are able to recognize and describe landforms; they can classify endogenic and exogenic geomorphological processes and know about their riscs.

Written exam at the end of the lecture

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

For a positiv exam, more than 50 % of the questions have to be answered positiv and both parts of the module, i.e. Geomorphology/Quaternary Geology and Quaternary Palaeontology have to be positiv.
