Use of isotope methods in hydrogeology (environmental isotopes, radioactive tracers). Isotope methods give a closer insight into flow and dispersion processes in ground and surface waters. Natural isotope ratios are thereby indicators for origin and age of the water. The temperature dependence of the isotopic composition of precipitation water has moreover made isotope ratios in the waters of the natural cycle to an important object of climatic research.
