Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The students will learn about the physical properties and processes of the Earth and its components, and how they are measured and explored. From these they will gain an understanding of the inner structure of the Earth, its magnetic and gravitational fields, and plate tectonics. They will be introduced to the phenomena of seismicity, isostasy, and tides.
Lectures will combine theoretical presentations with short exercises and reading assignments.

Assessment and permitted materials

Written examination in German or English.
Course material and books allowed.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The result for the exam must be positive (>50/100 Points).

Examination topics

Will be provided at the beginning of the course.
Exercises and questionnaires will be worked on during the semester to prepare for the exam.
