Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The students are able to classify clastic sediments under the microscope and discuss the findings. They can describe and interpret the mineralogy, petrology and diagenetic features of sedimentary rocks. They know the basic methods of carbonate sedimentology, including the identification of components and the classification of carbonate rocks. The students understand the factors which control the production of marine carbonates.
