The required course for undergraduate students (bachelor programme) in geology offers a theoretical and practical approach to sedimentary structures, bedding types, sedimentary sequences, facies associations, and sedimentary basin development. An introduction into methods dealing with terrigenous and carbonate rocks including microscopic component investigations as well as heavy mineral analysis will be presented. Stages of sediment diagenesis, including pore space development will be explained by microscopic specimens.
Basic knowledge in the use of a petrographic microscope is nessecary.
