Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Goals: The students know the most important substances in water, they are familiar with speciation calculations and are capable to perform them independently, in particular that of carbonate. They know the environmentally most important redox systems and they can create EH-pH charts. They qualitatively and quantitatively understand the mechanisms of sorption and the transport of substances and can perform calculations independently.
Assessment and permitted materials
The examination of the course is based on four individual evaluations. The contribution of each part to the final grade of the course is given in brackets:1. An oral group or individual presentation, dates will be scheduled on the first meeting on 07.03.2018 (max. 20 points)2. Written exercises (max. 30 points). Exercises taking place Wednesdays, 11:00-11:45. 80 % presence at the exercise is mandatory.3. Presentation of exercises in class (max. 10 points)4. Written examination on 13.06.2018 (max. 40 points)For the written exam, the use of a calculator is permitted.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
In order to complete the course positive, a cumulative minimum 51 points must be achieved out of 100 maximum points.
