Continuous assessment of course work

The applied Field and Lab Methods comprises a lecture "Water Analytics" (Prof. Körner), a one-day excursion to a waste water treatment plant, a one week field trip and four days of lab training.

The kick-off meeting is on 5.3.2014 (Attendance is mandatory!)

The lecture will be held Wednesdays, 13-15h (6 dates, will be scheduled with Prof. Körner at the kick-off meeting, as well as the 1 day excursion)

The field trip takes place from 30.6.-4.7.2014 (Lunz am See), the lab training from 7.-10.7.2014 (Dep. of EnvGeoScie, UniVie).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The students have performed different methods of soil probing (dynamic probing and soil core sampling). They are familiar with the construction and set-up of a groundwater observation well. They are capable of measuring discharge using different methods (current meter and salt tracer dilution). They have used various methods to determine hydraulic conductivity (pumping test, slug and bail test, infiltration test). They collected water samples from surface water and groundwater. They are familiar with standard water analysis and interpretation of the results. They are capable of presenting a hydrogeological project in a report.
