Assessment and permitted materials
- first written exam (30%) on November 24, 2015
- oral presentation (30%) in December
- second written exam (40%) on January 29, 2016In order to pass the course (grade 4), it will be necessary to reach 50% of all accumulated points from the two written exams and the oral presentation. Higher grades will be achieved with >62% (grade 3), >74% (grade 2), and >86% (grade 1) of the accumulated points.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Goals of the course: The students have basic knowledge in the environmental geochemistry of stable isotopes. They can show which stable isotope systems are used in environmental sciences and know in particular the application of non-traditional isotope systems. They know the mass spectrometry techniques which are utilized and can use observations of stable isotope fractionation to elucidate processes in environmental geochemistry and biogeochemistry. The students can apply quantitative methods to model these processes and the resulting isotope fractionation in complex systems.
Examination topics
This course will be taught in English. It consists of lecture parts with exercises and discussions as well as oral presentations by the students.
