Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Introduction to meteorites: collection, identification, classification, and curation. Petrographic and geochemical characterisation of meteorites. Shock metamorphic effects in meteorites. Geologic and petrologic information about their parent body.
Assessment and permitted materials
Written test (5 questions) + brief description and classification of selected meteorites through microphotographs
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Minimum requested: 3/5 correct answer to the multiple choice questions and correct identification of the major features shown in the microphotographs.
Examination topics
Petrography of meteorites. Meteorite basic classification.
