Aims, contents and method of the course

In the Universe the baryonic matter exists in various states, caused by energetic and dynamical processes and mainly determined by gravitation and energy release of massive stars. These drive matter cycles on different spatial and temporal scales. This lecture will mainly consider the matter cycle on galactic scales, driving large-scale stellar and mainly gas motions within galaxies, excerting galactic winds and experiencing gas infall from the extragalactic space.
