After a short introduction into the various fields of isotope analysis (stable, radioactive and cosmogenic nuclides) and the theoretical and methodological basis the lecture is focused on the long-lived radionuclides (mother-daughter pairs, decay series, like K-Ar/Ca, Rb-Sr, U-Th-Pb, Sm-Nd, Lu-Hf, Re-Os, noble gases) and their application both as geochemical tracers and as chronometers. Examples from various geological environments are discussed.
